Liem Sioe Liong Wafat Minggu 10 Juni 2012

Liem Sioe Liong reportly passed away on Sunday, June 10th 2012 in Singapore hospital. He was famously known as one of richest business man from Indonesia.

Sudono Salim Chinese name Liem Swie Liong or Lim Sioe Liong.born September 10, 1915, an Indonesian Chinese ethnic of Hokchia (Fuqing, Fujian) origin, is considered one of the most successful entrepreneurs in Indonesia. At one point in time, he was believed to be the richest individual in Indonesia.

His businesses were mostly without competition, due largely to his strong ties to then-president Suharto and co-ownership with prominent politicians and public figures. He monopolized the Indonesian cement and flour industries, among many others. He is a major shareholder in Indofood Sukses Makmur, a company that manufactures one of the most popular instant noodle brands in Indonesia, Indomie. Another of his assets come from his holdings in Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT).

In 1998, he gave up his majority stake in Indonesia's largest private bank, Bank Central Asia (BCA), to the Indonesian government, as a way to repay the huge loans that his family-owned company Salim Group has incurred. The monopolistic nature of his businesses left many grumbling, and during the Jakarta Riots of May 1998, his mansion in Jakarta was razed to the ground. He has resided in countries like Singapore and the United States since then. Most of his businesses have been run by his youngest son, Anthony Salim.



Liem Sioe Liong aka. Sudono Salim, telah meninggal dunia di usia 95 tahun di rumah sakit Singapore. Belum dilaporkan penyebab tutup usia Oom Liem, dan juga lokasi penguburan belum ditetapkan oleh keluarga. Liem Sioe lahir di Fuqian, China tahun 1915 dan merantau hingga ke Indonesia. Kisah sukses hidupnya diwarnai berbagai perjuangan mulai dari menjajakan bisnis dari bawah hingga menjadi konglomerat dunia. Liem Sioe Liong merintis usaha mie instant Indomie paling terkemukan hingga tingkat internasional, dan juga salah satu pemegang saham Bank Central Asia sebelum krisis moneter tahun 1998.
